LA Trendy

We dine on the patio,
our hands steam cleaned
by hot towels served
before dinner.
Our menu is only one page—
the drink list is longer—and
prices are listed as whole numbers
without decimals.
No need for coins here.

Fire Mountain,
California rolls,
Captain Crunch.
Exotic, confusing names
disguise the truth.

Conversation is delightfully mundane
as we sip chardonnay and deftly
seize bit-sized chunks with chopsticks
in the Oklahoma heat.
We look so cosmopolitan
with our wine and square plates,
our  tempora  and  sushi.

Chopsticks stuck straight up
in uneaten rice, we depart,
a handful of quarters
left as a tip.
